About TKTS

What Is TKTS JAPAN?

TKTS JAPAN is an official discount ticket store where you can purchase a wide range of entertainment tickets—musicals, plays, traditional Japanese performing arts such as Noh and Kabuki, live music events, sports games, exhibitions, and more—at reduced prices (some at regular price) starting one week before each performance. We offer high-quality Japanese entertainment at special last-minute prices that make it easier for everyone to enjoy.

Bringing Entertainment Closer to Everyone

TKTS JAPAN is operated by Longrun Planning Corporation. Guided by our mission, “Making entertainment more accessible,” we have developed various businesses, including the free magazine Confetti. In recent years, ticket prices have continued to rise, making entertainment feel less accessible than before.
All tickets sold at TKTS JAPAN are officially discounted, authorized tickets. Our goal is to ensure that anyone can stop by, pick up a ticket, and enjoy entertainment—bringing more people into theaters and venues across Japan.

History of TKTS

TKTS began in 1973 at Times Square in New York City. Today, long lines form outside the booth two hours before opening, and on busy days, as many as 7,000 tickets are sold—making TKTS an essential part of the Broadway theater-going experience. It is operated by the nonprofit organization Theatre Development Fund (TDF), whose mission is to make the power of the performing arts accessible to everyone by removing barriers and expanding opportunities for audiences.
In the United States, TKTS currently operates three booths: two in New York (Times Square and Lincoln Center) and one in Philadelphia. In 1980, TKTS opened in London, operated by the Society of London Theatre, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting the West End theater community.
In 2019, TKTS expanded to Japan—the first TKTS location in Asia—officially licensed by TDF.

Our Mission at TKTS JAPAN

By establishing TKTS as a new cultural infrastructure in Japan, we aim to lower the barriers to theatergoing, create new encounters between audiences and performances, and make entertainment more accessible to people from all walks of life.
