In 2026, DAZZLE—celebrating its 30th anniversary—
will present a new reimagining of its signature work, *Hana to Otori*, at Ikebukuro Aul Spot in July.
Since its premiere in 2009, this production has been revived numerous times and has garnered high acclaim both domestically and internationally, including an invitation to the Sibiu International Theater Festival (Romania).
Drawing inspiration from the fantastical Japanese folktale “The Fox’s Wedding,” the piece tells a story of the bond between brothers and the twists of fate.
The narrative is woven through dance, while Japanese motifs such as sliding doors and traditional paper umbrellas create a poetic space on stage.
What comes to life there is a one-of-a-kind theatrical world that fuses traditional aesthetics with contemporary sensibilities.
For this production, the core of the work remains intact, but it has been reconstructed using new directing techniques and a fresh structure.
DAZZLE has garnered attention for its immersive theater productions while also continuously creating stage works.
Having gained experience through numerous projects, including “Breakthrough Journey” for the 2025 Osaka-Kansai Expo,

“Hana to Otsuri”—a production that only “today’s DAZZLE” can bring to life—is born here.
