The Second Installment of the Umegai Reading Series!!
Following the highly acclaimed reading drama *Chushingura*, which was performed this past March, we are finally presenting *Shinju: Koi no Yamatoji* as a reading opera.

Based on Chikamatsu Monzaemon’s “Meido no Hikyaku” this production premiered in 1979 at the Takarazuka Bau Hall, starring Setouchi Miya of the Star Troupe. It was revived in 1982 with the same lead, and subsequently staged in 1989 with Tsurugi Miyuki of the Moon Troupe, in 1998 with Shiokaze Ko of the Snow Troupe, in 2014 by Snow Troupe’s So Kazuho, and in 2022 by Snow Troupe’s Kazuki Sora. This masterpiece of Takarazuka Revue, a true treasure of the theater, is now being revived as a recitation opera.
This time, you will be treated to two versions featuring Setouchi Miya as Chubei and Umekawa, alongside Minakaze Mai and So Kazuho, and Manaka Ayu.

The ultimate form of love between Umekawa and Chubei is portrayed beautifully, poignantly, and with rich emotion through “song” and “dialogue.”
