In Edo in the latter half of the 18th century, ukiyo-e (Japanese woodblock print) reached its zenith with ukiyo-e artists such as Kitagawa Utamaro as the central figures under the founder and head of the publishing store Tsutaya Jūzaburō. What kind of music did the people of Edo in those days enjoy? In this performance, talented musicians will play the masterpieces composed at the time that are still loved to this day. So that it can be enjoyed not only by HOGAKU lovers but also by those not familiar with HOGAKU, we will provide commentary about the program by YANAGIYA Rokuta, a comic storyteller, along with a subtitle application that outlines the highlights of the pieces.
