Detail
Jingoji Temple, the temple of Kukai, is a collection of the greatest treasures of 1200 years.

Jingo-ji Temple, located in Takao in the northwestern part of Kyoto City, has long been known for its beautiful autumn leaves.
In 824, two temples, Takao San-ji and Jinganji, were united to form Jingokokujo Shingon-ji (Jingoji Temple).
Takaoyama-ji was the family temple of Wake-no-Kiyomaro, who proposed the relocation of the capital to Heian-kyo, and was the base of Kukai's activities after his return to Japan after studying esoteric Buddhism in Tang China.
The national treasures "Kancho-Ryomyo" and "Ryokai Mandala (Mandala of the Two Realms)" are among the works that are directly related to Kukai.
The standing statue of Yakushi Nyorai, a National Treasure that was enshrined in the predecessor temple of Jingo-ji, is a masterpiece of early Heian sculpture, and is the first time in Jingo-ji history that it has been exhibited outside the temple.
This exhibition is a unique opportunity to introduce the temple treasures of Jingo-ji, the birthplace of Kukai and Shingon esoteric Buddhism.
Please take a look at these precious cultural assets that have survived the stormy seas of more than 1,200 years of history.
